Jürgen Kauz (born August 23, 1974 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian soccer player and current player advisor. Born in Vienna, he completed most of the missions in the youth national teams of the ÖFB .
Club career
Kauz started his career at Austria Wien . From the Academy of Vienna he moved to the combat team in 1991 under coach Herbert Prohaska . He played a total of 23 games for the Violets, including a brief appearance in the UEFA Champions League against FC Barcelona . After he was denied a breakthrough at Austria, he moved to LASK Linz within the Austrian Bundesliga . With the athletes, he became an important pillar and ultimately even team captain. He scored eleven goals in 107 league games for Linz. He also scored a brace against Werder Bremen in his only UI Cup game . In 2000 Kauz moved back to Vienna, but this time to Rapid Vienna . He was considered to be the bearer of hope for the then ailing Hütteldorfer. In his two years at Rapid Kauz could not build on his achievements from Linz. Kauz was thrown back again and again by a large number of injuries. He moved in 2002 within the league to Spielvereinigung Ried . In Ried, however, the Viennese was only a supplementary player and was mostly only substituted on. The move to Superfund Pasching followed . With the sensational Pasching team, however, Kauz was only a reserve player and only made two short appearances in half a year. He then moved to Vorarlberg for the first league team SCR Altach . Altach was the last professional position of the midfielder who had to end his professional career prematurely due to a hip injury. He switched to Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz and let his career end with several lower-class clubs.
National team
Kauz completed two games for the Austrian national team . He made his debut on August 18, 1999 in the friendly international match against Sweden in Malmö . He came on in the 68th minute for Alfred Hörtnagl . The game ended in a 0-0 draw. He played his second and last game on October 10, 1999 in the European Championship qualifier against Cyprus in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium . He came on in the 74th minute for Harald Cerny . Austria won 3-1.
