Jürgen Meeno Lahrtz (born May 26, 1929 in Wilhelmshaven ; † November 22, 2018 in Berlin ) was the producer of numerous records that were released under the GDR state label Amiga .

Life

Jürgen Lahrtz first appeared in the mid-1950s as one of the singers of the Hemmann Quintet, which, accompanied by the Wakikiys, the Gerd Natschinski orchestra and various other dance orchestras, performed hits such as Die Bimbam-Bimbam-Bina or Mein Kleines Hulamädchen . In the 1960s, the group is said to have had German versions of Beatles hits in their program. In the meantime, however, Lahrtz was also increasingly responsible for the production management of the most important Amiga publications, including the recording of the album Lyrik - Jazz - Prosa with Manfred Krug and the Jazz Optimists Berlin in October 1965.

Lahrtz advanced to become the producer of numerous albums at Amiga. According to the label's span, until the end of VEB Deutsche Schallplatten in 1990, he produced all kinds of popular music, from Schlager to easy listening , jazz, folk, pop and rock to electronic music, as well as children's radio plays. The LP Quichotte by Tangerine Dream, produced by Lahrtz in 1981 and featuring a concert recording by the band from East Berlin, was initially only available in the GDR - unusual for Western artists.

Lahrtz's activity is rarely referred to in the usually detailed imprint of the records as "production", but more often as "music direction" or "editing". Together with Siegbert Schneider , Helmar Federowski and Volkmar Andrä , Jürgen Lahrtz had a decisive influence on the most popular in-house productions of the GDR state label.
