Jürgen Mistol (born April 16, 1965 in Regensburg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since the state elections in 2013 .

Personal Information

Jürgen Mistol grew up in Regensburg. After high school and community service, he trained as a nurse. In parallel to his professional activity, he later studied sociology at the University of Regensburg . From 1998 he headed the office of a member of the state parliament before he was himself elected to the Bavarian state parliament in 2013.

Political career

Jürgen Mistol developed his interest in political and social issues while he was still at high school.

In the mid-1980s, he took part in demonstrations against the planned reprocessing plant near Wackersdorf , thereby firmly positioning himself against nuclear power . In 1991, Mistol joined the Greens.

Member of Parliament

Jürgen Mistol was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament in October 2013. Until October 2018 he was a member of the Interior and European Committee as well as spokesman for building, housing, municipal issues and sport of the parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. Since February 15, 2017, he has also been a deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of the Bavarian Greens. In October 2018 Jürgen Mistol was re-elected to the state parliament and has since acted as the parliamentary manager of the parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. He is also a member of the newly established parliamentary committee for housing, construction and transport and is active as his parliamentary group's housing policy spokesman. Mistol is also a member of the council of elders there.

Political engagement in and for Regensburg

In 2002 Jürgen Mistol was elected to the Regensburg city council, where he took over the office of leader of the Greens from 2006 to 2014. From 2014 to 2020 he was a member of the committee for environmental issues, nature and climate protection and the committee for economics. In the new electoral term of the City Council, he has been a member of the Economic Committee and the Audit Committee since May 2020. From 1996 to 2002 he was district chairman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Regensburg and from 2000 to 2008 a member of the party council of the Bavarian Greens.

Main political issues

As one of two Green MPs for the Upper Palatinate , Jürgen Mistol focuses in his political activities on topics from the areas of housing policy and local politics .

Transport policy issues in the Upper Palatinate as well as European policy issues also play an important role in Mistol's political work. In this context, the man from Regensburg is committed to expanding cross-border cooperation in Europe and is particularly committed to deepening relations with the neighboring Czech Republic .

Memberships and sideline jobs

Jürgen Mistol is a member of numerous associations and initiatives. In his first electoral term, he represented the parliamentary group on the advisory board for fundamental questions about savings bank policy, on the advisory board of the House of Bavarian History , on the state sports advisory board and as a deputy member of the state monuments advisory board . Since 2014 he has been a member of the board of trustees of the University of Regensburg, the supervisory board of the Stadtwerke Regensburg (Stadtwerk Regensburg GmbH) and the supervisory board of the Regensburger Verkehrsverbund (RVV). He is a member of the General Assembly of the European Academy of Bavaria and has been a member of the Supervisory Board of NaBau eG since June 2018. Since 2019, he has been the deputy chairman of the Prison Advisory Board of Regensburg Prison and the Prison Advisory Boards of the Clinic for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Parsberg District Hospital and the Clinic for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Regensburg District Clinic. Jürgen Mistol has also been a deputy member of the Judges' Election Commission of the Bavarian State Parliament since 2019 and has been the coordinator for the cooperation between the Bavarian State Parliament and the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic since February 2019. Since February 2019 he has been chairman of the support association of the Regensburg volunteer agency.
