Jürgen Richter (Animator)

Jürgen Richter (born July 17, 1961 in Planegg near Munich) is a German animator and director .

Life

After graduating from high school, Richter studied communication design at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences with a focus on animation under Professor Ottmar "Odty" Uhlig. He got his first job after graduation in Curt Linda's Munich studio . In addition to projects for ZDF and ORF, he worked as an animator on the movie Harald and the Ghosts . Then he moved to the TC studio of the director and producer Wolfgang Urchs . There he was the lead animator for the two main characters in the film Little Peter’s Moon Voyage.

At the end of 1989 Jürgen Richter moved to London and became part of Steven Spielberg's Amblimation studio , the forerunner of today's Dreamworks Animation . Directed by Phil Nibbelink and Simon Wells , he initially worked as a senior animator on Feivel, the mouse wanderer in the Wild West , later followed by Four Dinos in New York and Balto - A Dog with a Hero's Heart .

Munich animation

In March 1995 he founded the animation studio Munich Animation together with Eberhard Junkersdorf . As the person responsible for the entire 2D area, he directed the animated film The Fearless Four together with Eberhard Junkersdorf and Michael Coldewey . This was followed by the co-productions Tobias Totz und seine Löwe with Rothkirch Cartoon Film in Berlin and Stupid Studio in Brussels and Hilfe! I'm a fish with A. Film in Copenhagen and Terraglyph in Dublin. He was Sequence Director for both films.

Trixter

At the beginning of 2000 Jürgen Richter switched to Trixter Film . In addition to working on advertising films in 2D and 3D, Jürgen Richter was involved in the development of some cinema film materials and the television series Hexe Lilli . Here he also directed the first two episodes.

animoto

In 2003 Jürgen Richter founded the 2D / 3D and VFX Studio animoto GmbH together with four partners in Munich . In addition to advertising films for Danone, Procter & Gamble and Nestlé, he worked on TV films such as Elvis and the man with the red coat for ZDF, Flipper and Lopaka - The Film for Junior TV. As creative supervisor he was responsible for animoto's part in the movies Asterix and the Vikings and The Ugly Duckling and Me . Today animoto is part of the Munich production company Screencraft Entertainment and Jürgen Richter supports the Constantin Film Production Tarzan 3D as animation supervisor of his team under the direction of Reinhard Klooss .
