Jürgen Weintz

Jürgen Weintz (* 1955 ) is a German educational scientist , theater pedagogue , cultural manager , management consultant and coach (DGfC). For many years he was the managing director of the Akademie Off-Theater nrw and now teaches as a professor for cultural work and cultural management at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences .

Life

Jürgen Weintz studied German , history , philosophy and educational science at the University of Düsseldorf from 1974 to 1980 and from 1982 television, film and theater studies at the University of Cologne . After completing his legal traineeship at the Humboldt-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf and working as a research assistant at the University of Düsseldorf, he studied theater studies at the Free University of Berlin and theater education at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1984 . Since 1986 he has worked for eight years as a director and production manager at various independent theaters and in cooperation with the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus as well as a theater pedagogue and communication trainer in the fields of universities , teacher training and adult education . In 1986 Jürgen Weintz began a long-term collaboration with the Brazilian theater teacher Augusto Boal , which lasted until his death in 2009.

In 1993 Jürgen Weintz co-founded the Akademie Off-Theater nrw , of which he was the educational director and managing director until 2009. In 1997 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. with Hans-Wolfgang Nickel and Peter Simhandl at the Berlin University of the Arts. His doctoral thesis was entitled: "Aesthetic and psychosocial experience through role work". In 1999 he founded the agency for corporate theater "eventkom" and worked from 1999 to 2009 as a theater lecturer at the University of Düsseldorf. Jürgen Weintz has been a professor for theater / cultural work and cultural management / cultural marketing at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences since 2009 . His scientific focus is on the aesthetics of the performing arts, theory and practice of theater education, visitor / non-visitor research, cultural marketing and PR as well as cultural management with a focus on leadership and personnel . Jürgen Weintz also works as a consultant for marketing / management issues and as a systemic coach, senior coach and teaching coach (DGfC).
