The JL van den Heuvel Orgelbouw BV , based in Dordrecht is an organ building in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1967 and specializes in the production of French symphonic organs. Its largest organ is the organ of the parish church of St-Eustache de Paris , built in 1989 according to plans by Jean Guillous .
history
The company's founder, Jan Leendert van den Heuvel, was born on November 5, 1946 in Dordrecht. At the age of 16, he began training as an organ builder at Flentrop in Zaandam and founded his own workshop in Dordrecht in 1967. Even his first organs received great praise from experts for their intonation and solid craftsmanship. In 1975 Jan van den Heuvel's brother, Peter A. van den Heuvel, joined the company at the age of 17. Through contacts with Michelle Leclerc and Daniel Roth , both studied the organ building of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll , whose symphonic sound ideal they wanted to develop further. The company attracted worldwide attention when it won the 1985 competition to build the organ in St-Eustache de Paris , which became one of the largest organs in France.
