The J / 70 is a planing keelboat that is recognized as a unit class by the International Sailing Federation . It is mainly sailed for regattas with a crew of around four people, but also for day trips.
General
The J / 70 was developed by J / Boats ( USA ) and has been marketed since 2012. Even when there is little wind, it starts to plane. The stanchions including the movable bowsprit are made of carbon. The latter is used to guide a gennaker . With a length of 3.35 meters, the cockpit takes up a little less than half the length of the fuselage. Outboards serve as the motorization. The L-keel can be caught up.
Regattas
The boat is currently (as of 2019) used in the German Sailing League and the Sailing Champions League . Another regatta held in this class is the Helga Cup of the NRV . Outside of the European and World Championships, there are J / 70 fields at sailing events. The most important regattas for the German ranking list are announced by the J70 class association on their website.
