J (real name Jun Onose , Japanese. 小野 瀬 潤 Onose Jun , born August 12, 1970 in Hadano , Kanagawa , Japan ) is a Japanese bass player , singer , songwriter and music producer . J became known as the co-founder and bassist of the rock band Luna Sea , but he can now also look back on a long solo career.

biography

Jun Onose was born in Hadano in 1970 and went to the same middle school and high school as Inoran , with whom he founded the band Lunacy .

Luna Sea

Lunacy was founded in 1989 and later renamed Luna Sea . The then unconventional band with a visual kei look had difficulties getting a record deal. It was only with the help of X Japan drummer Yoshiki that they made the leap into the music world and established themselves as a successful rock band. In 1997 the band took a break so that all members, including J, devoted themselves to solo careers. In 1998 the band returned visibly more mature and presented a more poppy style than before. Except for Sugizo , the band members had largely abandoned their visual look. In 2000 the band released their last album for the time being, which marked the beginning of the band break until 2007.

After being announced after a seven-year hiatus on the day of a lunar eclipse, the band gave a sold-out concert in the Tokyo Dome on December 24, 2007 in front of 55,000 visitors. They also headlined X Japan at the Hide Memorial Summit on May 5th, 2008. The resumption of the band activities took place in the form of several concerts outside of Asia. Her world tour in 2010 brought her to Bochum, her only concert in Europe.

Solo career

J's first project without Luna Sea was the founding of the group M * A * S * S with bandmates Inoran and hide from X Japan . However, they only released one song, Frozen Bug , on the sampler Dance 2 Noise 004 . The song was later re-released by hide on his solo album Hide Your Face .

When Luna Sea took a year-long hiatus in 1997, J signed with the Universal Music Group label . His first single "Burn Out" was released on June 25th. It also contained a cover of the song "Call Me" by the band Blondie . In 1999 he produced a remix of Electric Cucumber by the band Zilch (hide, who died in 1998, was a member of the band) for their remix album Bastard Eyes . In 2001 he toured with Zilch .

J played and produced for a number of well-known musicians. In 2001 and 2002 he produced albums and songs for Youjeen together with Franz Stahl . In 2002 he played the bass for the song I Hate You by Tomoyasu Hotei . Hotei later remixed J's song Perfect World for the Go Crazy single. J Bass also played for Seo Taiji album Seo Taiji 7th Issue , which was released in 2004.

Since November 9, 2005, J switched to the Blowgrow label (part of Avex Group ) with the release of his single Break . In the same year J covered the song Iconoclasm by the band Buck-Tick for their tribute album Parade -Respective Tracks of Buck-Tick- . On September 8, 2007 he also appeared on their tour finale, the Buck-Tick Fest 2007 on Parade Tour.

J started another project under the name Aggressive Dogs Death Note Allstars , N-Crew , where he recorded songs with various musicians for the tribute album Death Note Tribute to the manga Death Note .

In 2008 J Bass played five songs on the album The Braincase from the Izumis project of the same name (guitarist and founder of Aion ). J had been a roadie for Aion in the 80s.

In April 2009, J announced in the 21st issue of his fan club magazine Pyro Magazine that he was married.

For the 14th anniversary of his solo career, J released the self-cover album Fourteen - The Best of Ignitions - in January 2011. On March 8th the curtain went up on the musical Pink Spider , based on hides ( X Japan ) life and music. J played there too. The game was from 8.-27. March at Tokyo's Globe Theater and then toured Fukuoka, Kobe, Nagoya, Niigata, Sendai, and Sapporo in April. From 5th to 9th May J played under the name J 14th Anniversary Special Live Set Fire Get Higher -Fire Higher 2011- five concerts in succession at Shibuya-AX , with a different band supporting him every day: Mass of the Fermenting Dregs , Nothing's Carved In Stone , Avengers in Sci-Fi , Pay Money to My Pain, and The Hiatus .
