Seo Taiji (born February 21, 1972 , real name: Jung Hyun-chul, Hangeul: 정현철 , Hanja: 鄭 鉉 哲 ) is a South Korean musician.
When he started playing bass with the South Korean metal band Sinawe at the age of 17 , he adopted the stage name Seo Taiji . After Sinawe had dissolved in 1991, he formed his own band Seo Taiji and Boys , and became one of the most successful South Korean pop music - singer of the 1990 's. With his band he brought elements such as chanting and heavy metal music, which shortly afterwards became an integral part of the music scene. The band released five studio albums and became the most successful band in South Korea. After several years in the USASeo Taiji is now a somewhat less successful solo artist who released his fourth studio album Atomos in 2009. In 2004 he played concerts with the American band Korn .
