Jack Hofsiss

John B. "Jack" Hofsiss (born September 28, 1950 in Brooklyn , New York City , New York ; † September 13, 2016 ) was an American film and theater director .

Life

John B. Hofsiss graduated from Georgetown University in 1971 . He made his debut on Broadway in 1979 with The Elephant Man, and in the same year won the Tony Award for Best Theater Director as the youngest ever to win . In 1982 he also directed the television film of the same name, The Hunt for Life .

Hofsiss has been in a wheelchair since an accident in 1985 in which he sustained a spinal cord injury while jumping into a pool .
