The hunt for life is an American film directed by Jack Hofsiss from 1982. The story is based on the autobiography I'm dancing as fast as I can from Barbara Gordon .

The success-oriented, young television producer Barbara can no longer withstand the pressure of her job and turns to Valium . Without realizing it, she slowly becomes addicted to the drug. To recover from the stress, she voluntarily goes to a therapy center. There their addiction is discovered and they want to be healed. However, she does not want to admit the drug abuse herself. A painful process of recognition and work-up begins, which finally ends with a successful therapy and the patient's discharge.
