John Seamus "Jack" McInerney (born August 5, 1992 in Chattanooga , United States ) is an American football player who is currently under contract with Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer . He is used as a striker .
Player career
youth
McInerney attended Bradenton Preparatory High School in Bradenton , Florida and played for the junior soccer club Cobb Futbol Club of Marietta, Georgia . In 2009 he was named NSCAA National Youth Player of the Year.
Philadelphia Union
Straight out of high school, McInerney was selected by the Philadelphia Union in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft . He received a Generation Adidas contract, which makes this possible without attending college. In his first season, the 2010 MLS season , he was used 17 times, but only played once from the start. Nevertheless, he scored three goals. He was also loaned out to the Harrisburg City Islanders for a game .
While he also mainly played a joker role in the 2011 season , he was able to maintain a regular place from the 2012 season and played most of the games for Philadelphia on the starting line-up. He scored 18 goals in the 2012 season and 25 goals in the 2013 season .
Montreal Impact
On April 4, 2014, it was given to Montreal Impact in exchange for Andrew Wenger . In his first season for the Canadians, he scored seven goals in 26 league games for the Canadians. He was also the top scorer for Montreal in the Canadian Championship , which Impact won in 2014 .
In early August 2015, McInerney moved to league rivals Columbus Crew . Montreal Impact received a pick in the MLS SuperDraft 2016 from Columbus in exchange for the player change . McInerney came to Impact on a total of 43 league games in the MLS, in which he scored eleven goals. He also played five times in the CONCACAF Champions League (three goals).
Columbus crew
McInerney played for the first time on August 9, 2015 in the game against the Colorado Rapids for the Columbus Crew. On August 23, he scored his first league goal for the new club against Sporting Kansas City with the winning goal to make it 3-2.
