The Jack River is a 55 km long left tributary of the Nenana River in Alaska .
The Jack River rises at an altitude of about 1450 m on the western flank of a 2012 m high nameless mountain in the Talkeetna Mountains . It flows through the mountains in a predominantly northerly direction. The 1010 m high Caribou Pass separates the Jack River from the headwaters of the Middle Fork Chulitna River . The Jack River leaves the hill country southeast of Cantwell . At Cantwell, Cantwell Creek flows into the Jack River from the left. The Jack River turns north-northeast, takes Windy Creek from the left and finally flows into the Nenana River. The George Parks Highway runs for the bottom 10 kilometers along the right bank of the river. The Jack River drains an area of about 1000 km².
The river was named in 1898 by GH Eldridge and Robert Muldrow of the US Geological Survey (USGS) after WG Jack, a prospector .
