John Patrick "Jack" Underwood (born August 12, 1894 in Hinckley , Minnesota , USA ; † December 31, 1936 in Duluth , Minnesota) was an American football player . He played for the Duluth Kelleys / Eskimos , the Buffalo Bisons , the Pottsville Maroons and the Chicago Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL).

Player career

Jack Underwood signed a professional contract with the Duluth Kelleys in 1923, who were trained by Joey Sternaman . In 1926, the later members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame John McNally , Ernie Nevers and Walt Kiesling joined the team from Duluth , which was renamed Duluth Eskimos later that year. Underwood did not win a title with his team. For the 1927 season, he first joined the Pottsville Maroons to switch to the Buffalo Bisons during the season . In 1929 Underwood joined the Chicago Cardinals , which could also sign Ernie Nevers and his former teammates in the Eskimos Russ Method and Bill Stein for that season . Underwood did not win the title with his new team from Chicago . He ended his playing career after this game year,
