Collins married Wallace Austin in 1960. Their first daughter was born in 1961 and only four years later, Collins divorced and married the art gallery owner and nightclub owner Oscar Lerman in 1965. Her parents then sent her to Los Angeles to live with her older sister, Joan. Jackie Collins switched from acting to writing novels. In 1968 she published her first book, The World Is Full of Married Men , which became a bestseller.
