Jacob Mampuya (born October 4, 1994 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player of Congolese descent. He is  under contract with SG Lützel-Post Koblenz .

career

Mampuya, whose parents moved from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Germany in the early 1990s , was born in Berlin and played basketball in his hometown in the junior departments of TuS Neukölln and TuS Lichterfelde . With the International Berlin Basketball Academy (IBBA) he became German U16 champion in 2010.

In 2010 he moved to Bremerhaven, where he played for the Eisbären in the youth division and also gained experience in the men's division at BSG Bremerhaven (second regional league). In 2013 he left Germany and went to the United States for a year, where he stayed at the St. Louis Christian Academy (State of Missouri ), went to school there and pursued his basketball career.

In the run-up to the 2014/15 season, he signed his first contract as a professional basketball player with the second division VfL Kirchheim / Teck , but remained a supplementary player with the "knights". In the summer of 2015, he moved to Lower Saxony and joined the Quakenbrücker club Artland Dragons , which entered the third-tier 2. Bundesliga ProB after withdrawing from the first division . Mampuya started the 2016/17 season with the Giants Nördlingen in the ProB-Südstaffel and switched to PS Karlsruhe at the beginning of 2017 within the league . With the "Löwen" he became runner-up, which meant promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA. Mampuya contributed to this success in 17 missions for Karlsruhe an average of 8.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per encounter.

In July 2017 he moved to the Walter Tigers Tübingen in the basketball league . In the 2017/18 season he was used by the Tübingen team in 16 Bundesliga games and had a point average of 2.3. In addition, he played in 14 regional league games for SV 03 Tübingen and was the team's top scorer with an average of 22.4 points per match.

At the beginning of December 2018, Mampuya and the Tübingen team separated. In the 2018/19 season, he had played eight second division games for the team up to this point and scored an average of 4.9 points per encounter. Shortly thereafter, he moved within the league to FC Schalke 04 , before joining the Scanplus Baskets Elchingen in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB during the summer break of 2019 . He and the team were first in ProB-Süd and scored an average of 12.4 points per encounter during the 2019/20 season, which was canceled in mid-March 2020 due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus . At the end of August 2020 he was hired by ProB promoted SG Lützel-Post Koblenz .
