Jacob Daniel Tierney (born September 26, 1979 in Montreal , Québec ) is a Canadian actor , screenwriter and director . In 2017 and 2018 he and his fellow actor Jared Keeso won the Writers Guild of Canada Scriptwriting Award in the TV Comedy category.

Life

Jacob Tierney was already regularly in front of the TV and film camera in his childhood. In 1987, when he was nine years old, he made his debut in the TV production Hitting Home . This was followed by a number of children's and youth films, including Josh and SAM and the series Dracula: The Series (1990-1991) and Scary, Gray, Goosebumps ( Are You Afraid of the Dark? 1991-1992). For this series, based on the children's book series Goosebumps , Jacob Tierney won a Young Artist Award in the category "Outstanding Performers in a." In 1993 together with Jason Alisharan , Rachel Blanchard , Nathaniel Moreau , Raine Pare-Coull , Jodie Resther and Ross Hull Childrens Program “nominated. In 1995 Terence Davies ' adaptation of the novel The Neon Bible , in which Tierney played the leading role of 15-year-old David, took part in the competition for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival .

His first work as a screenwriter and director was the short film Dad in 2002 , which received an Honorable Mention at the Atlantic Film Festival . In this film he played alongside Tygh Runyan, Jacqueline McClintock and Emily Hampshire himself. This was followed in 2003 by the film Twist , for which he also wrote the script and directed. In the following years film and television productions were also made under his direction, as well as being a screenwriter. But he also continues to work as an actor. His film The Trotsky won numerous Canadian and international awards, including Best Screenplay and Best Director for Tierney.
