Jared Keeso

Jared Keeso (born July 1, 1984 in Listowel , Ontario ) is a Canadian film and television actor and screenwriter who is best known in Germany for his role as Ben Chartier in the Canadian crime series 19-2 , for which he was with the Canadian Screen Award . He had episode appearances in the series Smallville , Psych and Supernatural, among others . For the series Letterkenny , he was twice awarded the Writers Guild of Canada Award for Best Screenplay TV Comedy.

life and career

Keeso grew up in his birthplace Listowel and initially worked in the family's sawmill before starting an acting career.

Keeso played the former ice hockey player and coach and today's television presenter Don Cherry in two films , in Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story (2010) and the sequel The Wrath of Grapes: The Don Cherry Story II (2012). Keeso completed numerous roles in television series and films, the most famous of which is the lead role as police officer Ben Chartier on the side of Adrian Holmes in the English language version of the Canadian television series 19-2 . The series ran internationally for 4 seasons and started in Germany on February 23, 2016. For this role, he won the Canadian Screen Award in 2015.

In the Letterkenny series , Keeso is not only the lead actor, but is also responsible for the idea, script and production. It started as a web series called Letterkenny Problems and had over 25 million views on YouTube by 2016 . Thanks to this success, Keeso was able to close a development deal with the major Canadian media company Bell Media . The next season of the series, now called Letterkenny , aired in February 2017 after the 51st Superbowl was televised on CTV , Canada's largest private broadcaster. In 2018, Bell Media placed the order for 42 more episodes. In 2017 and 2018, Jared Keeso and co-writer Jacob Tierney won the Writers Guild of Canada Award for Letterkenny in the category Best Screenplay in the TV Comedy category.
