Jacques "Pancho" Abardonado (born May 27, 1978 in Marseille ) is a French football player . He is the cousin of André-Pierre Gignac and belongs to the Roma ethnic group .

The central defender, who can also be used in defensive midfield, played for clubs in the French Ligue 1 from 1998 to 2007 . As a youth player, he came to Olympique Marseille in 1994 , for whom he made his debut on November 10, 1998 in the league team. In 2001 he moved to FC Lorient for one season , which, however, was relegated after the season. Therefore, OGC Nice signed him. There he became a regular player and captain; in five seasons up to 2007 he came to 164 missions. In the 2007/08 season, however, after the coaching change to Frédéric Antonetti , he was only used ten times and was only substituted five times in the last minutes.

During the winter break of the 2007/08 season he moved to Nice's twin town for 1. FC Nürnberg , with whom he signed a contract for a period of two and a half years. The Nuremberg team were looking for reinforcement after they were relegated to a relegation zone at half-time due to personal problems in the defense. On February 9, 2008 (second match day of the second half of the season) he was substituted on at the home game against Hansa Rostock in the 82nd minute. There was also another brief appearance in the UEFA Cup. On February 21, 2008, he was substituted on in the UEFA Cup home game against Benfica Lisbon in the 87th minute. Nevertheless, it was not until the ninth matchday in the second half of the season that Abardonado was on the team from the start on his second league appearance. After a convincing performance against Bayern Munich, he played through for the rest of the season. Nevertheless, at the end of the 2007/08 season, 1. FC Nürnberg was relegated to the 2. Bundesliga. There he had a job on the second match day (August 25) in the 2008/09 season , then he dissolved his contract with 1. FCN and returned to France.

He joined the Valenciennes FC and had his first appearance there on September 13, the 5th matchday of Ligue 1 2008/09 . In total, he came to 18 season appearances this year. In 2010 he moved to Grenoble Foot , before signing a year later with third division team Étoile Fréjus-Saint-Raphaël , which he turned his back on in 2012.
