Life
Bourbon Busset was a descendant of the Barons de Busset ; with the House of Bourbon he had patrilineal ties. His father was François de Bourbon Busset (1875-1954), his mother Guillemette de Colbert-Chabanair (1885-1944).
Bourbon Busset completed his school days at the Lycée Henri IV and moved to the ENS in his hometown in 1932 . He then got a job at the Foreign Ministry , where he worked throughout World War II .
He was arrested by the German occupiers and deported to Germany . Through his successful escape, General Charles de Gaulle became aware of him. In August 1944 he appointed Bourbon Busset President of the French Red Cross . During this time he married Laurence Ballande († 1984) and had a son with her, Charles de Bourbon Busset (* 1945).
In 1948 Robert Schuman brought Bourbon Busset into his cabinet. Later, between 1956 and 1965, he served as mayor of Ballancourt-sur-Essonne , Essonne department . Close to Ballancourt is the Château de Saussay , where the family still lives today.
1981 appointed the Académie française Bourbon Busset as a member. On July 4, he was elected to the chair 34 to succeed the late writer Maurice Genevoix .
