Ballancourt-sur-Essonne is a commune south of Paris with 7597 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Evry and is part of the canton of Mennecy . The inhabitants are called Ballancourtois .
geography
Ballancourt-sur-Essonne is located on the Essonne River , into which the Juine flows, about 37 kilometers south-east of Paris . The municipality is bordered to the north by Fontenay-le-Vicomte , to the northeast by Chevannes , to the east and southeast by Champcueil , to the south by Baulne , to the west and southwest by Itteville and to the northwest by Vert-le-Petit .
