The small town with 7552 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located 23 kilometers southeast of Paris in the northeasternmost tip of the Essonne department right on the border with the Val-de-Marne department on the edge of the Forêt de Sénart forest . The small municipality nestles against the Yerres , whose course on site forms a mirror-inverted "S".
