Prunay-sur-Essonne is located about 55 kilometers south of Paris on the Essonne River , which forms the eastern municipal boundary. The municipality is located in the Gâtinais français Regional Nature Park . Prunay-sur-Essonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Gironville-sur-Essonne in the north, Buno-Bonnevaux in the east, Boigneville in the south and Champmotteux in the west and southwest.
