Quincy-sous-Sénart (pronunciation [ kɛ̃si su senaʁ ] ) is a French commune with 9021 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region . It belongs to the canton of Épinay-sous-Sénart . The inhabitants call themselves Quincéens . Little is known about the name of the city. It was founded in 1793 with its current name.

Geographical location
Quincy-sous-Sénart is located on the Yerres , about 30 kilometers southeast of central Paris . The river Yerres forms a natural border about 1.9 kilometers long with the northeastern neighboring municipality Varennes-Jarcy . Other neighboring communities are Épinay-sous-Sénart and Brunoy in the north-west, Boussy-Saint-Antoine in the north, Combs-la-Ville in the east, Tigery in the south and Étiolles and Soisy-sur-Seine in the south-west. To the west, the municipality borders the Forêt de Sénart forest . Northeast borders Quincy-sous-Sénart to the department of Seine-et-Marne .
According to calculations from 2008, Quincy-sous-Sénart has an area of 524.71 hectares. 177.57 hectares (34.2%) of this are urban, 17.99 hectares (3.5%) are urban undeveloped. The rural area extends over 329.15 ha (63.3%), with the Forêt de Sénart forest bordering to the west making up the largest part with 240 ha.

The coat of arms of Quincy-sous-Sénart is decorated with a lion on a white / silver background and a border divided into six smaller fields . As king of the animals, the lion stands for courage and royalty. The fields of the border are alternately white and red , with the red fields being adorned with a gold and the white fields with a black mallet , which is supposed to illustrate strength and activity. The lily (fleur-de-lys) in the middle of the upper border symbolizes the time of the French monarchy and is flanked by two five-petalled cinquefoil flowers. There is a tournament collar above the fleur-de-lys .
