Courances 
is a French municipality with 342 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement Évry and the canton Mennecy (until 2015: canton Milly-la-Forêt ). The inhabitants are called Courançois .
geography
Courances is located about 49 kilometers southeast of Paris on the École River , which forms the western municipal boundary. The municipality is located in the Gâtinais français Regional Nature Park . Courances is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Dannemois in the north, Cély in the northeast, Fleury-en-Bière in the east, Milly-la-Forêt in the south and south-east and Moigny-sur-École in the west and south-west.
