Course of the Jaiwa (Я́йва) in the catchment area of the Kama |
The Jaiwa ( Russian Я́йва ) is a left tributary of the Kama in the Russian region of Perm .
The Jaiwa rises in the Kwarkusch mountain range on the western flank of the Northern Urals . It flows mainly in a westerly direction. It passes the small town of the same name Jaiwa and finally flows into the Kama reservoir .
The Jaiwa has a length of 304 km. It drains an area of 6250 km². It is mainly fed by the snowmelt . 87 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 88 m³ / s. The river freezes between the second half of October and mid-November. At the end of April / beginning of May it is ice-free again.
At least in the past, the Jaiwa was used for rafting . The last 15 km of the Jaiwa are navigable .
