Jacob Job

Jakob Job (born December 14, 1891 in Birmensdorf , Canton of Zurich ; † April 30, 1973 in Zurich ) was a Swiss travel writer, radio director and teacher . He has published numerous books on southern Europe and travel.

Life

Jakob Job was born in Birmensdorf , Canton of Zurich , in 1891 . The registry edition of the University of Zurich names the father's occupation as a smallholder and factory worker .

Job studied German and teaching at the University of Zurich. From 1914 to 1923 he worked as a secondary school teacher in Zurich. In 1923 he received his doctorate. phil. His dissertation was on " Jakob Bosshart as a narrator".

From 1923 to 1927 he was director of the Swiss school in Naples . In 1930 and 1931 he was appointed head of the Swiss Abroad plant in Berlin. From 1932 to 1956 he was director of the Zurich radio cooperative (forerunner of the Zurich radio studio belonging to the Swiss Radio DRS ). Since 1951 he was a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry .

Job died on April 30, 1973 in Zurich.
