Jakob Liefer (* 1571 in Lippehne , Neumark ; † 1655 ) was a German Protestant theologian and author .

Life

Liefer was born in Lippehne in Neumark. In 1598 he was enrolled at the University of Rostock and studied Protestant theology . After studying for a short time in Friedland (Mecklenburg) , he took over the parish in Blankenhagen in 1603 . In 1634 he moved to the parish in Steinhagen (Western Pomerania) and from 1637 also took over the pastorate in Voigdehagen near Stralsund ; the church Voigdehagen was at this time the mother church ( Mater ) of the three Stralsund parish churches .

Liefer brought out his epic in Latin Bellum Sundense in 1639 while in exile in Stralsund , in which he describes the Sundian War of 1316. In the preface, Liefer writes that the epic was intended as the preliminary work of a work about the siege of Stralsund by Wallenstein in 1628.

In Bellum Sundense , Liefers describes the victory of the Stralsund defenders over a coalition of princes in the 14th century, which was associated with a considerable expansion of power in the city. He dedicated the epic to the city council of Stralsund and its citizens.
