Jakob Miller (also Jacob Myller or Müller ; * 1550 in Kißlegg , Allgäu , † December 1, 1597 in Regensburg ) was a Catholic reform theologian , provost and diocese administrator in Regensburg.

Life

Jakob Miller studied at the Germanicum in Rome and became cathedral preacher in Constance in 1578 , then a visitor to the Diocese of Constance until his dismissal in 1585 . From 1586 he worked as administrator in spiritualibus for the diocese of Regensburg . In Regensburg Miller achieved the establishment of a Jesuit college, wrote new diocesan constitutions and campaigned for the results of the Council of Trent in the diocese. He was appointed as the first infuled Provost of Regensburg in 1592.

Canon Miller was the spearhead of the Tridentine -minded party in the Regensburg cathedral chapter and was therefore of great importance for the Regensburg Bishop Philipp of Bavaria , who was also strongly committed to the Tridentinum , a son of Wilhelm V. Miller was certainly of great importance for the bishop At that time the city was almost completely in the hands of the Lutherans. ”In a more neutral and factually correct way, this means: Miller was certainly very important for the young and inexperienced bishop, since the city of Regensburg has been ruled Protestant since the introduction of the Reformation and the establishment of a Jesuit college was in vain sought to prevent.

Miller's extensive literary work includes, among other things, a text on the furnishings of the churches, which he wrote in German and Latin.
