Jakob Wolff the Younger

Jakob Wolff the Younger (* 1571 in Bamberg ; † February 24, 1620 in Nuremberg ) was a German stonemason and sculptor during the Renaissance .

In 1596 Wolff moved to Nuremberg with his father, Jakob Wolff the Elder . Supported by the Nuremberg Council, he went on a hike to Italy from 1600–02. Then he helped his father with construction contracts. From 1607 to 1616 the Schwarzenberg Castle was rebuilt in Scheinfeld ; here both were involved in the execution of the drafts created by Elias Holl .

After his father's death, Jakob continued to work independently in Nuremberg. He was involved in the construction of the Wöhrdertorbastei in 1612, and built the master builder's house in 1614. 1616-20 he expanded the Nuremberg town hall with the Wolffschen building together with his brother Hans Wolff .

Father and son are among the German pioneers of Italian Renaissance architecture .
