James Anderson (actor, 1980)

James Anderson (born November 3, 1980 in Thursley near Guildford , Surrey ) is a British actor who also appeared as a film director .

Life

Anderson grew up in a small village outside London . He attended Warwick University , where he graduated with a First Class Honors Degree. He completed his acting training in collaboration with Pace University as a three-year master's degree at the Actors' Studio in New York City . There he graduated as a Master of Fine Arts (MFA). His teachers included u. a. Arthur Penn , Ellen Barkin and Ron Leibman . Since then he has played roles on television (in the British television series Rock Rivals ), on stage and in independent films .

In May 2009, it was announced that Anderson would play the role of medical student Oliver Valentine in the UK hospital series Holby City . His role, which was part of the main cast of the series, was later continued through the professional stations as a doctor in internship and assistant doctor . Anderson had his first appearance in June 2009 in the 11th season of the series. In 2013 he got out of the series; the last episode with Anderson for the time being ran in July 2013. At the end of October 2014, Anderson went back to the main cast at Holby City .

In the 13th season of the British television series Agatha Christie's Poirot , he had an episode lead role in the episode Dead Man's Folly after the story Reunion with Mrs. Oliver in 2013 . He embodied Michael Weyman, a “handsome, voluptuous architect”. In April 2015, Anderson played a supporting role in the ZDF television film A Single Kiss , a German-British joint production from the Rosamunde Pilcher series. He played Grant, the son-in-law of the main female character Valentine Whitely ( Katja Weitzenböck ).

His directorial debut, the short film Forgetting Betty (2006), for which he also wrote the screenplay , was awarded as “Best Film” at the Cinequest Film Festival in San José in 2007 and at the Chicago International Film Festival in 2006. The film was also on the list of nominations for an Oscar in 2008 .

Anderson lived on the Lower East Side in New York City for many years . He currently (as of April 2015) has residences in London and New York City.
