James Hook (born June 27, 1985 in Port Talbot ) is a Welsh rugby player who plays on the position of the liaison half. He plays for USA Perpignan and the Welsh national team .

Hook was born in Port Talbot , South Wales. His career began at Neath RFC , the country's oldest rugby club. In 2004 he moved to the Ospreys, where he was in the starting lineup for the first time in the 2006/07 season. Hook made his national team debut in 2006 against Argentina , where he made his first attempt . This was followed by strong performances against Australia in a 29:29 draw and the Pacific Islanders . During the Six Nations 2007 Hook took part in all games of his team, but mostly in the unfamiliar position of the inner three quarters . Only in the final game against England he was used as a liaison half and ensured the Welsh victory with his 22 points. He was then named "Man of the Match". He was able to repeat this performance at the Six Nations 2008 when he led his team to an away win in England and was able to reach the Grand Slam at the end of the tournament .

He was inducted into the ranks of the British and Irish Lions in 2009 after Leigh Halfpenny was unable to start the tour due to injury.
