James Kazuo Koda

James Kazuo Koda ( Japanese ヤ コ ブ 幸 田 和 生 , Yakobu Kōda Kazuo ; born March 11, 1955 in Setagaya , Tokyo ) is a Japanese Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Tokyo .

Life

James Kazuo Koda was baptized in 1976 at the age of 21. Before entering the seminary , he studied law . Then he continued his studies in his home country. On March 3, 1985, he received from Archbishop Peter Shirayanagi the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Tokyo .

After that he held the following offices: vicar , parish priest , moderator at the seminary in Tokyo; Head of Pastoral Office, Archdiocese of Tokyo; Consultor of the diocese; Member of the priest council ; Head of the Archdiocese restructuring committee .

He was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Tokyo on November 29, 2004 by Pope John Paul II . Its titular seat is Synnada in Mauretania . He was ordained bishop on February 19, 2005 by the Archbishop of Tokyo, Peter Takeo Okada, with the assistance of Rafael Masahiro Umemura , Bishop of Yokohama , and Peter Toshio Jinushi , Bishop of Sapporo .
