The Roman Catholic Diocese of Yokohama ( lat. : Dioecesis Yokohamaensis , jap. カトリック横浜教区 , katorikku Yokohama Kyoku ) is in Japan situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Yokohama . It includes the prefectures of Kanagawa, Nagano, Shizuoka, and Yamanashi.
history
Pope Pius XI founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Quod iamdiu on November 9, 1937 from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Tokyo , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.
On January 4, 1939, it lost part of its territory to the Urawa Apostolic Prefecture .
