Jean-Baptiste-Alix Chambon MEP (born March 17, 1875 in Vollore-Ville , France , † September 9, 1948 in Yokohama ) was a French Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church in Japan .

history

Jean-Baptiste-Alix Chambon was ordained a religious priest of the Paris Mission on September 23, 1899 . He received his appointment as Archbishop of Tokyo on March 16, 1927. The Superior General of the Paris Mission Titular Archbishop of Marcianopolis Jean-Baptiste-Marie Budes de Guébriant MEP consecrated him on May 4, 1927, assisted by the Bishop of Clermont Francisque-Jean -Etienne Marnas and the Vicar Apostolic of Laos Bishop Marie-Joseph Cuaz MEP. On November 9, 1937, he was appointed archbishop ( ad personam ) and first bishop of Yokohama . With the appointment as titular archbishop of Amorium on November 12, 1940 he became emeritus bishop of Yokohama.

Archbishop Chambon consecrated Albert Henri Charles Breton MEP as Bishop of Fukuoka , the later Cardinal Peter Tatsuo Doi as Archbishop of Tokyo and Jean-Germain Mousset MEP, Vicar Apostolic of Taiku in South Korea , as Titular Bishop of Irenopolis in Isauria . As co-consecrator, he assisted in:
