The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fukuoka ( lat. : Dioecesis Fukuokaensis , Jap. カトリック福岡教区 , katorikku Fukuoka Kyoku ) is in Japan situated Roman Catholic diocese based in the city of Fukuoka .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the diocese of Fukuoka on July 16, 1927 with the Apostolic Constitution Catholicae Fidei and commissioned the Paris Mission with pastoral care. The area of the new diocese consisted of the prefectures of Fukuoka , Saga , Kumamoto , Oita and Miyazaki , which until then had belonged to the diocese of Nagasaki .
As early as March 27, 1928, the prefectures of Oita and Miyazaki were separated from the diocese of Fukuoka and the Mission sui iuris Miyazaki was founded.

The diocese of Fukuoka includes the prefectures of Fukuoka , Saga and Kumamoto in the northwest of the island of Kyushu .
