Josep Maria Abella Batlle

Josep Maria Abella Batlle CMF (born November 3, 1949 in Lleida ) is a Spanish religious and appointed Roman Catholic Bishop of Fukuoka .

Life

Josep Maria Abella Batlle joined the Order of the Claretians and made temporary profession on August 22, 1966 . He made his perpetual profession on December 8, 1972. Abella Batlle received on 12 July 1975, the sacrament of Holy Orders . From 2003 to 2015 he was Superior General of the Claretians.

On June 2, 2018 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Methamaucum and auxiliary bishop in Osaka . The Archbishop of Osaka, Thomas Aquino Man'yō Cardinal Maeda , donated him episcopal ordination on July 16 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Nagasaki , Joseph Mitsuaki Takami PSS , and the Archbishop of Tokyo , Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi SVD .

On April 14, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Fukuoka.
