Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi

Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi SVD ( Japanese タ ル チ シ オ 菊 地 功 , Taruchishio Kikuchi Isao ; born November 1, 1958 in Miyako , Iwate Prefecture ) is a Japanese religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Tokyo .

Life

Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries , made his profession in March 1985 and was ordained a priest on March 15, 1986 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Niigata on April 29, 2004 . The Archbishop of Tokyo, Peter Takeo Okada , donated him episcopal ordination on September 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Rafael Masahiro Umemura , Bishop of Yokohama , and Marcellino Taiji Tani , Bishop of Saitama .

Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples on September 13, 2014 .

On October 25, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Tokyo.
