James Moll (* 1963 in Allentown , Pennsylvania ) is an American film director and producer who won an Oscar in 1999 for his documentary The Last Days . The film deals with the Holocaust and the persecution of the Jews in the Third Reich . Moll was also honored with two Emmys and a Grammy for his work .

Life

James Moll, who was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, grew up in a musical home in Los Angeles and had a career as a pianist and composer in mind, graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles and studied at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 1987 . He began his professional career as an intern with the film producer Lauren Shuler Donner . Moll assisted Donner in the realization of the American remake of the French comedy The Fugitives ( Les Fugitifs ) by Francis Veber , which appeared in 1989 under the title Das Bankentrio ( Three Fugitives ) and was produced by Shuler Donner.

The film Price for Peace (2002), which focuses on the American involvement in the Pacific War during World War II , was directed and produced by Moll. Running the Sahara , a full-length documentary, was made by Moll in 2007 as director and producer. It's about three men walking 4,300 miles from Senegal to Egypt through the desert. Actor Matt Damon was executive producer . The film is also intended to raise awareness of taking initiatives for clean water in Africa .

Moll's production company Allentown Productions Inc. mainly realizes film and television projects that have a historical background.
