James P. Scoblick

James Paul Scoblick (born May 10, 1909 in Archbald , Lackawanna County , Pennsylvania , †  December 4, 1981 there ) was an American politician . Between 1946 and 1949 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Scoblick attended his homeland public schools and then St. Thomas High School in Scranton . He then studied until 1930 at Fordham University in New York City . Later he was also at Columbia University there . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In Lackawanna County, he was on the Department of Public Assistance Board .

After the resignation of Congressman John W. Murphy , Scoblick was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the by-election for the tenth seat of Pennsylvania , where he took up his new mandate on November 5, 1946. Since he was also elected to Congress for the following legislative period , he could remain there until January 3, 1949. In 1948 he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party, which was due to his support for the Taft-Hartley law , which was unpopular in his home country . His time as a congressman was marked by the events of the beginning Cold War .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, James Scoblick worked, among other things, as a consultant for the food industry. He died on December 4, 1981 in his hometown of Archbald.
