Janówek (German Ober Johnsdorf , Silesian Aeberjohnsdurf ) is a village in the rural municipality Jordanów Śląski ( Jordansmühl ) in the powiat Wrocławski in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

The place is located at the foot of the Jańska Góra ( Johnsberg ), 3 km southwest of Jordanów Śląski ( Jordansmühl ), 3.5 km west of Niemcza ( Nimptsch ) and 34 km southwest of the district capital Wroclaw .
history
In 1414 the place was mentioned as Jonsdorf . Owners in the 18th century were the lords of Schikfus. After the First Silesian War in 1742, Ober Johnsdorf fell to Prussia and was incorporated into the Nimptsch district.
In 1783 the village had 1 manorial farm , 2 water mills, 12 gardeners and 117 inhabitants. In 1845 there were 23 houses, 1 manorial farm, 172 inhabitants, 33 of them Catholic and the rest Protestant, 2 water mills, 1 windmill, 1 brewery and distillery and 4 craftsmen. Ober Johnsdorf was evangelically parish to Jordansmühl and catholic to Gleinitz. The registry office was in Karlsdorf. In 1869, the manor owner Friedrich Schröter from Wättrisch built the first Bismarck tower on the nearby Johnsberg . After the Nimptsch district was dissolved in 1932, Ober Johnsdorf was assigned to the newly created district of Reichenbach / Eulengebirge .
With the takeover by Soviet troops and the Polish administration, Ober Johnsdorf was renamed Janówek . The German residents were expelled and replaced by Poles.
