Jan Balatka
Jan Balatka (born February 26, 1825 in Doly , dt. Hoffnungsthal, † April 17, 1899 in Chicago ) was an Austrian-American composer of Moravian origin.
Life
Balatka studied in Vienna with Simon Sechter and Heinrich Proch . In 1849 he emigrated to the USA . From 1851 to 1860 he headed a music association in Milwaukee , after which he worked as director of the Philharmonic Society and the Musical Union in Chicago.
In addition to a cantata , Balatka has received choral movements for the choral societies he heads, songs and orchestral fantasies.
