Jan Beinßen (born January 30, 1965 in Stadthagen ) is a German writer of crime novels . He is best known for his regional crime stories. His crime series about the photographer Paul Flemming takes place in Nuremberg. He also writes crime novels in France under the pseudonyms Jean Jacques Laurent and Jules Besson .

biography

After school , the armed forces and started studying German language and literature in Hanover , from 1987 onwards I did an internship at a daily newspaper in Stadthagen. From 1989 he worked as an editor in Hameln for four years . Beinßen came to Nuremberg from Hameln in 1993 , where he has worked as a journalist ever since. From 1993 he was an editor at the evening newspaper in Nuremberg, most recently as head of the local editorial office in Nuremberg. Since 2003 he has been working full-time at Flughafen Nürnberg GmbH as an editor / PR journalist.

Jan Beinßen is married and has three children.

Beinßen's first novel was titled Two Women Against Time , published by Reclam Leipzig . The novel The Geneva Alley was also published by the same publisher. This was followed by the novel Messers Schneide in the publishing house of the Criminale.

He was best known for his regional novels , which are set in Nuremberg and with their titles such as Dürer's Mätresse , Sieben Centimeter , Hauser's Brother , Die Meisterdiebe von Nürnberg or gingerbread with bitter almond allude to the history or cultural characteristics of the city. All have been published by ars vivendi . In 2010 the same publisher published Gesalzen und gepfeffert , a mixture of short thrillers and recipes based on the protagonist of the Nuremberg crime thriller Paul Flemming.

Furthermore, Beinßen writes French crime novels under pseudonyms . A series about Gendarmerie Major Jules Gabin, set in the fictional Alsatian town of Rebenheim, was released in 2016 under the name of Jean Jacques Laurent. The first volume with Monsieur Keller, a retired commissioner living on a houseboat in France, was published in 2019 under the name Jules Besson. The character of Konrad Keller had already appeared as an investigator in two legends crime novels in Nuremberg a few years earlier.

Jan Beinßen also contributed to the Postcard Stories Crime and the anthology Tatort Franken .

Beinßen is a member of the syndicate , the group of authors of German-language crime literature. This organizes the Criminale every year , at which the German-speaking crime authors present themselves with their works.
