Jan Bereska

Jan Bereska (born October 31, 1951 in Berlin ) is a German actor, director and author.

life and work

Bereska, son of the translator Henryk Bereska , made his screen debut as a schoolboy, and other minor roles followed, some of them during his training as an electrical mechanic. His first leading role, that of "Peter Gruner" in the debut work of director Roland Graef's DEFA film My Dear Robinson , made him known in the GDR in 1971 . In addition to other film productions in front of the camera, Bereska began studying directing at the Potsdam University of Film and Television in 1974 and worked as an assistant director and author for DEFA feature film in the 1980s. He has been working as a freelancer since 1985. After a short trip to the theater, he wrote for the television of the GDR , for the series Dresdner Kostbarkeiten and was involved in the poetry anthology "Kürbiskern" (1988).

After the fall of the Wall , Jan Bereska worked as a writer, director and assistant director. He was a co-founder of Förderband eV From 1992 to 1994 he ran a media workshop in the Mitte district, where he designed videos with young people and produced his own films. In 1996 he made the documentary Trois artistes berlinois about the three Berlin artists Peter Herrmann , Hans Scheib and Reinhard Stangl .

At the beginning of the millennium, Bereska led various independent theater groups and assisted at Theater 89 , Hall 7 / Munich and at the HFF Potsdam-Babelsberg. In 2007, his volume of poetry "Revel in a lost position" was published. Bereska has published a collection of his poems online. Bereska lives and works in Berlin and in Boitzenburger Land.
