My dear Robinson is a German youth film of the DEFA of Roland Gräf from the year 1970 .
action
Peter Gruner is nineteen years old, a capable young man who works as an ambulance driver at the ambulance office in order to gain practical experience for his planned medical studies. That is why he is also preparing for his Abitur at evening high school. On the other hand, he's pretty playful and dreamy. Since he still lives like an island, he is also called Robinson.
His girlfriend had a child from him, and now it seems to him, firstly, to be quite difficult to teach his father that he has become a father and this grandfather, and secondly, he is subconsciously exaggerating this difficulty because he is still in his new role as dad is not getting along properly, and thirdly, his girlfriend understandably finally wants to know where she is. Robinson still lives at home and commutes back and forth between father and girlfriend. Except for his father, everyone knows and encourages him to clear the table quickly. Above all Adam Kowalski (the colleague from the ambulance) and his friend Antenne keep asking questions.
The offspring are now one year old and Karin finally demands clear relationships. Robinson now uses a ruse by telling Barbara, his father's colleague and friend, his story as if it were the experiences of his friend Antenne. The type of narration as well as the exact address of the apartment of the friend and her child puzzled Barbara and she describes her suspicions that this could be Peter's friend and child, Peter's father. Of course, he can't believe it and drives to the address given to have it checked. There he meets the young family and after some confusion everything goes well of course. Father Gruner is proud that he is now the grandfather of a boy and is reconciled with his son. He also realized that he didn't want to become a doctor and began studying mechanical engineering.
production
My dear Robinson was filmed in Berlin by the artistic work group “Red Circle” in black and white and on ORWO color and had its premiere on March 2, 1971 at the Berlin Kino International .
criticism
In the Berliner Zeitung , Günter Sobe found that it was a lovable film. You can feel the commitment. You can feel how lovingly everything is told, what understanding lies behind the scenes, how cautiously you wanted to show the intimate love of these two young people, but not touch them. In the film mirror it was read that the crackling between two at least not quite adult partners, the complementing of the characters in the common ground is missing. Renate Holland-Moritz thinks that Graef's extraordinary talent for photography and image design is exemplary again this time. The young master knows how to extract poetry and typical Berlin aura from even a dirty tram window.
