Jan Vang Sørensen (* 1960 as Jan Vang Hansen ) is a professional Danish poker player and former soccer player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Personal

Sørensen earned his living as a football player and played a. a. at Odense BK in the Superliga until he had to end his career at the age of 30 due to a knee injury. He later changed his last name from Hansen (his father's last name) to Sørensen (his mother's last name) in order to be able to live as a professional poker player in Las Vegas .

Sørensen has participated in prestigious live tournaments since 1995 .

Sørensen was successful for the first time in May 1995 at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas and came in a tournament of the variant Seven Card Stud in the money. In November 1998 he won a tournament at the European Open in Dortmund and in the following month at the same place an event at the Hohensyburg Championships , for each of which he received a prize of 125,500 German marks . At the 2002 WSOP , Sørensen prevailed in a Pot Limit Omaha tournament and secured a bracelet and the grand prize of US $ 185,000 . In the same variant, he won an event at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas a month later with a prize of almost 80,000 US dollars. In June 2005, Sørensen secured in the meantime in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino played out 2005 WSOP his second bracelet with a win in the variant Seven Card Stud , the dollar US doped with nearly 300,000.
