Jan Walenty Wieczorek (born February 8, 1935 in Bodzanowice ) is a Polish priest and former bishop of Gliwice .

Life

The auxiliary bishop in Sandomierz , Franciszek Jop , ordained him as a priest on June 22, 1958 . He was incardinated in the clergy of the Diocese of Opole . Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Thimida Regia and auxiliary bishop in Opole on June 12, 1981 .

The episcopal ordination donated him the bishop of Opole, Alfons Nossol , on August 16 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Stefan Bareła , Bishop of Częstochowa , and Józef Benedykt Kurpas , Auxiliary Bishop in Katowice .

As a motto he chose Servire Populo . On March 25, 1992 he was appointed Bishop of Gliwice . He held this office until 2011.
