Jan Zimmermann (historian)

Jan Zimmermann (* 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German historian and author.

Life

After visiting the Katharineum in Lübeck , where he graduated from high school in 1985 , Zimmermann studied history and art history at the University of Hamburg and in Paris .

With a dissertation on the history of cultural awards the Alfred Toepfer Foundation in 2001 he was at the Department of History in Hamburg Dr. phil. PhD and was involved in coming to terms with the history of the foundation. He worked as an editor at the Hoffmann und Campe publishing house and is the author of numerous works on historical topics from Lübeck and Hamburg.

Zimmermann created an extensive collection of historical views, from which various picture books, the website Lübeck im Bild and Vintage Germany as a picture agency and publisher were created.

In the online project Lübeck4me of the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences and the Possehl Foundation Lübeck , Zimmermann is responsible for historical content as text and picture editor.
