Jane Bridge

Jane Bridge (born February 4, 1960 ) is a former British judoka who was world champion in 1980 and three times European champion.

Jane Bridge fought in the super lightweight, the weight class up to 48 kilograms. In December 1976 she won the European Championships in Vienna when she defeated the Italian Emilia Davico in the final . Two years later she reached the final again at the European Championships in Cologne in 1978 and won her second title against the French Annie Vial . She won her third European title in 1980 in Udine with a victory over the Italian Paola Napolitano . Later that year she won the British Open and the Dutch Open. At the end of November 1980, the first World Championships for women took place in New York City . Again she met an Italian in the final with Anna De Novellis and with her victory Jane Bridge was the first world champion in the lowest weight class.

She later coached the British women's team and worked as a bodyguard for actors in Paris. In 2016 she took over responsibility for training on the board of the European Judo Union. From 2011, the 7th Dan holder worked as a judo teacher and trainer at the University of Bath .
