Janina Kugel

Janina Kugel (born January 12, 1970 in Stuttgart ) is a German manager , consultant and board member . From 2015 to 2020 she was a member of the Management Board and Labor Director of Siemens . Kugel is a member of supervisory boards, has functions in other committees and has been a Senior Advisor at the Boston Consulting Group since 2020 .

Life

Professional background

Janina Kugel studied economics at the Universities of Mainz and Verona . After graduating (Master of Economics), she joined Accenture in 1997 .

In 2001, Kugel switched to the Siemens Group and initially worked in the Communications division as a division manager before she was appointed HR manager at Siemens Italy in 2009. In 2012 she moved to the Osram subsidiary as Chief Human Resources Officer . After the IPO in 2013, Siemens only held a 17% stake in Osram, whereupon Kugel was poached by CEO Josef Käser and commissioned to manage HR strategy and management development .

In February 2015, Kugel was appointed to the Siemens Management Board as Labor Director and was thus responsible for 341,000 employees and later 372,000 employees. She was the youngest board member; her predecessor was Siegfried Russwurm .

In 2018, Kugel was selected by a jury as "Prima inter Pares" on a list of the 100 most influential women in German business , an initiative by Manager Magazin and the Boston Consulting Group.

In January 2020, Kugel left the Siemens Executive Board at the end of the contract term.

Kugel has been Senior Advisor for the Boston Consulting Group since May 2020.

Kugel is a member of the supervisory board of the Pension Insurance Association and of the Finnish company Konecranes (since 2020 also chair of the HR Committee).
